Lieutenant Colonel Adam Hepworth leads the Australian Army’s emerging technology program as Director of the Robotic and Autonomous Systems Implementation and Coordination Office (RICO). Adam is an Expert Member on the Global Commission for Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain (GC REAIM) through The Hague Center for Strategic Studies and a Visiting Fellow at the University of New South Wales, resident in the School of Systems and Computing. Adam holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of New South Wales, a Master of Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of South Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Scientific Computation from the United States Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Science in Operations Research from the United States Naval Postgraduate School, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from the University of New South Wales.

Varun Verma is a distinguished AI and Data Analytics leader based in Melbourne, Australia. He has over a decade of professional expertise spanning diverse industries and global cultures. His leadership positions in prestigious organisations such as Loreal, Heineken, PwC, Visa, Accenture, and Allianz have been pivotal to his extraordinary contributions to the Data Analytics field. Armed with a rich skill set encompassing digital and data strategy, business intelligence, machine learning, big data, and Artificial Intelligence, Varun holds the challenging position of Chief Data Analytics Officer at Loreal Australia and New Zealand. His educational background includes an MBA in Marketing and Information Systems and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science. Varun’s notable achievements include a groundbreaking patent for a computer program product. This innovative method utilises the machine learning tree-net gradient boosting algorithm to determine a dominant debit card profile. The aim of this innovation is to drive automated AI-driven marketing campaigns tailored to consumers based on their past purchase behaviour. Recently, he was honoured with the Outstanding Data Scientist award from the 40 under 40 category, further highlighting his innovative thinking. Varun’s dedication to sharing his professional insights on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence is evident in his active participation in public speaking workshops and seminars throughout the Asia Pacific region. Recognised as a subject matter expert, he has been selected to lead workshops on “Machine Learning & AI” as part of the Data Analytics Academy, catering to groups of data scientists from Asia Pacific countries and markets.

Suzie has a proven track record in leading digital transformation strategies and new data-led digital products for media organisations. With long experience in digital and data platform development, she has worked for some of Australia’s largest media organisations including Foxtel, News Corp and Nine Entertainment. In her roles with Foxtel and News Corp, Suzie was responsible for developing new commercial data-driven digital products. At News Corp she launched the industry-first audience segmentation and intelligence platform, Intent Connect. Currently, in her role as chief data officer for Nine Entertainment, Suzie is leading the development and implementation of Nine’s data strategy, focusing on building value from Nine’s scaled audience and first party data asset. She is also responsible for developing and implementing Nine’s AI strategy. She leads a team of data technologists, product managers and data scientists.


Maruf Hossain

Named Global Top 100 Innovators in Data and Analytics in 2024, Dr Maruf Hossain is a pioneering leader in AI and data science in Australia, renowned for delivering tangible business value across a diverse range of organisations—from startups to large enterprises, consulting firms, and government agencies. With a robust quantitative foundation, Dr Hossain holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Melbourne, a master’s degree in software engineering, and an Honours degree in Mathematics. The Vice President of Data Science at ANZ Bank, Dr Hossain has previously held key positions at Credit Clear, Telstra Global Enterprise and Services, IBM GBS, and Infosys Consulting. He has co-authored numerous research papers on data mining & machine learning, and whitepapers for various industries. Dr Hossain had established Centres of Excellence for Data, AI, and Automation for multiple organisations, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader.


Rob Sewell

Rob joined NBN Co in February 2023 as Chief Information Officer, bringing significant experience in the international telecommunications sector, notably in technology strategy and transformation. Rob is also the Executive Sponsor of NBN Co’s Culture Diversity network.
Prior to joining NBN Co, Rob was with Maxis in Malaysia, leading technology strategy and digital transformation.
Prior to that, Rob spent seven years as the Chief Information Officer and Head of Network Planning with Indian mobile network operator Aircel and, in Australia, over 17 years at Telstra in a range of roles, including Director of Architecture.
Rob holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Australia, and has also lectured at Masters level in Computer Science at RMIT University.

Benjamin Lamont is the Manager Technology Strategy and Data for the Australian Federal Police (AFP). In this role, Ben is responsible for developing the AFP Technology Strategy and associated roadmaps to address capability gaps and opportunities. Ben is also responsible for overseeing the development and deployment of the AFP’s corporate information management, data science and analytics platforms and developing methods and governance to ensure consistent application and use of data, analytics and augmented decision making. In addition, the role includes the delivery of highly specialised systems and software to support operational outcomes. Teams within the area include Information Management, Data Science, Business Intelligence, Architecture and Specialised Capability Systems.
Prior to joining the Chief Information Officer Command in 2020, Ben spent 15 years in Forensics in theAFP and New South Wales Police. Ben led complex forensic operations in counter-terrorism, serious and organised crime, and community policing. During this time Ben also led the enhancement of scientific, technical and operational delivery across all disciplines of Forensic Science. This role included the establishment of the AFP’s Bomb Scene Examination Capability integrating multiple forensic disciplines into a cohesive operational ready capability.
Ben was the Forensic Committee Chair; Australian New Zealand Counter Terrorism Capability, leading the identification of specialised forensic requirements related to terrorism risks to ensure law enforcement capability could meet current and emerging threats.
Ben spent five years as the AFP’s National Disaster Victim Identification Commander Leading disaster victim identification (DVI) capability coordinating and commanding critical offshore missions in response to international government requests for assistance following crisis events. This role also included supporting the Australasian DVI Committee in preparedness for international DVI response and conducting readiness assessments and gap analysis to meet requirements for DVI response.
Ben has been awarded the National Emergency Medal, Australian Federal Police Bravery Medal, AFPs Operations Medal, Commissioner’s Citation for Conspicuous Conduct and the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Conspicuous Conduct.

What’s included in my delegate pass?
A Delegate Pass includes access to all sessions, refreshment breaks, networking lunches, and access to provided speaker presentations. Please note: Sharing of speaker presentation’s is subject to approval from the guest speaker. One delegate ticket is entry for one person only, passes cannot be shared. Organiser’s reserve the right to deny entry to anyone not registered.
Is there a group booking discount?
Yes – groups of 3 people or more are entitled to a discount. Full discount information is available on our registration page. If you have any questions about how group bookings work, please contact team@connectmedia.com
Can I transfer my pass?
A delegate pass is entry for one person only, passes cannot be shared. A substitute delegate is welcome at any time prior to the event, provided the request is made in writing to team@connectmedia.com
How do I receive my delegate pass?
Following the completion of your registration, you will receive an email confirmation. We will contact you via email the day prior to the event with a QR code, to make your arrival as seamless as possible have your QR e-ticket ready and visible on your device.
Is media registration available?
No, this is a closed and confidential event. Media registrations are not available.
Cancellation Policy:
A full refund less a $250 (GST Inclusive) processing fee is applicable on cancellation requests made in writing within 10 days of registration. No refunds are available for cancellations made more than 10 days after registration. Where Connect Media is required to reschedule the event in the interest of the event partner’s and guests, your pass will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled dates. Should Connect Media be unable to offer, deliver or fulfil any engagement within 12 months, you will be entitled to a full refund.
What is a Service Provider?
A service provider refers to an individual or organisation who supplies products and/or services to the primary audience of the event.
Will there be a delegate list available?
No, Connect Media does not provide delegate lists to attendees.
Fraudulent activities
We’ve been alerted to instances of companies proposing to purchase and sell lists of attendees for our events. Please be assured, we do not engage in the sale or distribution of event-related data. Such companies have no association with us, and we are actively working to halt these deceptive practices.
Regrettably, this type of scam is not uncommon in the media industry. Any information purported to originate from our events and offered by a third party would be completely fabricated. Should you have doubts about the legitimacy of a potential supplier, we urge you to contact us directly.

Digital Pass (only applicable for digital events):
A digital pass is valid for the use of 1 user and provides access to live content, inclusive of all keynotes, and sessions. The pass also includes access to approved speaker presentations/on demand content; this will be available to you via email in the week following the event. Please note: Sharing of speaker presentation’s is subject to approval from the guest speaker. Access must not be shared by multiple user’s or redistributed in any way. Organiser’s reserve the right to deny access to anyone who is found violating the above terms.
Payment & Discounts:
Only one promotional discount code can be applied per registrant. All prices and promotions are valid at the time of purchase only and may not be redeemed after the point of purchase.

Organiser’s Rights:
Connect Media and Communications Group Pty Ltd endeavours to ensure the conference programme and speaker line-up is correct at the time of the event. All advertised details are correct at time of publishing. Due to unforeseen circumstances Connect Media and Communications Group Pty Ltd reserves the right to alter the programme prior to the event without notice. We also reserve the right to cancel or postpone the event. Where Connect Media is unable to run the event in the next 12 months (from the date of the event), you will be entitled to a full refund. In the unlikely event that it is cancelled or postponed, no compensation will be provided for cancelled/amended travel arrangements.
Connect Media and Communications Group Pty Ltd reserves the right to deny access to any individual that engages in or is alleged to engage in practices that are considered unprofessional and inappropriate for a business conference. We reserve the right to deny access to delegates that may affect the client / vendor ratio of attendance in favour of the interests of sponsors and commercial partners of the event.
In registering for this event, delegates grant permission to Connect Media and Communications Group Pty Ltd to take and to have full and free use of video/photographs containing their image/likeness for promotional use. Should a delegate not agree to the above image release, they must advise team@connectmedia.com.

Event Delivery:
In case of a change in government restrictions and advice, Connect Media reserves the right to make the decision to deliver the event completely digital, or completely in person. Should you hold a different pass, you are entitled to move your registration to digital/in person, or receive a credit for the following edition of the event.
